New Pagani Huayra R Evo is even better with the roof off (2024)

“Everything is better with a roof,” you sometimes hear some car fanatics say and protest. There is a certain freedom associated with driving a convertible, or at least as long as the weather permits. However, we’d venture to say that there’s one situation where a convertible isn’t usually a gift, and that’s at high speeds… Unless you’re driving the latest Pagani, that is.

At least 320 km / h

This is the Huayra R Evo and before you hit us with the word “newest” above: indeed, Pagani now also has a Utopia. However they returned to their old friend Huayra again and they did it for a good reason, because they wanted to transform it into the ultimate track car. They did it by adding a 6.0-liter V12 engine from Mercedes-AMG to deliver no less than 900 hp and 770 Nm of torque to the rear wheels through a six-speed gearbox. That already gives him the title of the most powerful Pagani ever.

We don’t know what that does to acceleration or top speed, but Pagani says that the Huayra R Evo produces more power than its 1,060 kg weight at a speed of 320 km / h – so it definitely reaches that speed. Pagans largely owe that deficiency to wives codalunga and no, that’s not some kind of strong coffee. Instead, it means ‘long tail’ in Italian, which means that this version of the Evo has a longer tail than the Huayra R we already know. With that big spoiler, this should give no less than a 45 percent increase in downforce.

More power from the bottom without a roof

However, there is another factor that contributes to the decline of all those powers, and it is one that we did not expect. For example, we see in the pictures that the last Pagani track car has a removable roof panel and if you thought this would hinder performance, it seems you thought wrong. In fact, Pagani boasts that the Huayra R Evo produces 5 percent more power without the roof than with the roof. Structural stiffness also doesn’t seem to be affected by that removable roof panel, because the Evo version is 38 percent stiffer than the regular R thanks to the new use of carbon fiber in the body.

Buy the Air R Evo

However, as far as good news goes, if you can see yourself traveling this road this summer, then we have to disappoint you. The Huayra R Evo is intended for touring only and is therefore not street legal. Besides, it’s priced so high that Pagani doesn’t even dare to mention it… So feel free to order and let us know what they’re asking for.
