Norfolk State University places third in 2023 HBCU Battle of the Brains

Norfolk State University has emerged triumphant in the highly esteemed HBCU Battle of the Brains Business/STEM pitch competition, securing a resounding third place finish out of a competitive pool of 35 skilled teams in Austin, Texas. The commendable feat was announced on the 14th of March, igniting a wave of excitement and admiration throughout the university community.

The National Football League (NFL), in collaboration with tech-giants Expedia and Dell, alongside other prestigious companies, served as benefactors of the electrifying event. Participants were presented with the challenging task of conceptualizing a comprehensive business plan, crafting a prototype, and formulating a financial strategy for a product in line with the NFL’s operational niche. With a daunting time constraint of just 24 hours, participating teams toiled tirelessly to showcase their intellectual prowess and flair for innovation.

Eminent judges meticulously examined the teams’ deliverables and identified the top seven groups for the much-anticipated pitch phase. Norfolk State University’s exceptional team emerged as one of the chosen few, undoubtedly due to the diligent work and meticulous planning that was carried out. At the end of a rigorous judging process, NSU secured a coveted third-place finish and received a generous award of $10,000, much to the delight of the institution’s representatives.
