“I was totally wrong” – Lando Norris reveals Ferrari’s shocking bet

Lando Norris was surprised by his second place during the Grand Prix of China. After all, he had made a bet with his McLaren team that Ferrari would lead by ’35 seconds’.

Although Norris was ahead of Ferrari on the grid in Shanghai, their speed in the sprint race was so high that he thought it would only be a matter of time before he beat him in the Grand Prix.

In a fight with Charles Leclerc of Ferrari, McLaren decided to overtake Monegasque. Norris said his team believed Leclerc was driving with a one-stop strategy.

But although Norris was faster than his rival van Ferrariit was twenty laps later when he feared his race would be canceled by the virtual safety car due to the retirement of Valtteri Bottas’ Sauber.

Norris was given a lifebuoy when it was found that the VSC condition continued for several laps, which also allowed the driver to make a ‘free’ pit stop and stay ahead of Leclerc.

When the VSC went into the safety car, which was immediately followed by another safety car period, Norris went through to second on the second restart. He was able to maintain that position until the checkered flag, while Sergio Pérez was unable to close the gap.

It was a pleasant surprise for Brit. “I was surprised by many things, Ferrari’s lack of speed today, our good speed compared to Red Bull“, he said after the race. “I didn’t expect that at all today.
