The North Idaho DUI Task Force will be out in full force this weekend as law enforcement agencies across the region collaborate to target intoxicated drivers.
In an effort to reduce impaired driving and promote road safety, the DUI Task Force will be putting extra officers on the roadways in an intensive effort to identify drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The task force consists of officers from the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, the Washington State Patrol, the Coeur d’Alene Police Department, and other local law enforcement agencies. It is funded by the Washington Traffic Safety Commission and the Idaho Office of Highway Safety.
The DUI Task Force is utilizing its combined resources and expertise to address the issue of impaired driving in the region, with a particular focus on weekends and holidays. During its operations, officers will look for signs of impaired driving, such as swerving, speeding, and driving without headlights. They will also be conducting sobriety checkpoints to ensure drivers are not under the influence.
North Idaho residents are advised that the DUI Task Force will be out in full force throughout the weekend, and to take extra care when on the roads. Those who choose to drive impaired not only risk their own safety, but also the safety of their passengers, other drivers, and pedestrians.
The DUI Task Force is determined to make the roads of North Idaho safer, and encourages all drivers to be smart and sober when behind the wheel.
