Its electric vehicles are reaching new heights

While the media frequently mentions a drop in demand for electric vehicles, or lower-than-expected growth, BMW is reporting very positive results. The group has just published its delivery figures for the first quarter of 2024, and when it comes to fully electric models, these are very good.

According to these official figures, the BMW Group delivered 594,671 vehicles to its customers in the first quarter, an increase of 1.1%. As for the group’s 100% electric vehicle shipments (BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce), they reached 82,700 units, which corresponds to a 27.9% year-on-year growth. And about BMW brand, shipments reached 78,691 units in the first quarter, representing 40.6% year-on-year growth.

But, more importantly, with this increase in its electric vehicle shipments, the group has just reached a milestone. Indeed, in the first quarter, it delivered its millionth fully electric car. “With the delivery of our one millionth electric vehicle since the market launch of the BMW i3, we have reached a milestone that confirms the appeal of our product portfolio”said Jochen Goller, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG and Head of Customers, Brands, Sales.

Strong growth expected for 2024

In its announcement, the group also mentions its forecast for 2024. Without giving exact figures, it expects a slight increase in its output, which will be driven by demand for electric vehicles and high-end models. For these two groups, BMW estimates that it will show double-digit growth in 2024.

But, BMW notes that its high-efficiency petrol engines, as well as plug-in hybrids, continue to be key features of its offering. In addition, the group shows its flexibility, which allows it to adapt to changes in consumer needs.

“By offering a choice of drive technologies and our high degree of flexibility, the BMW Group is well positioned to meet the changing needs of customers. This strategy seems to be very effective today in a dynamic market environment”announced Jochen Goller, on this subject.
