A recent $1 million donation from Ohio State alumna Sherry Lansing, a former chairman and CEO of Paramount Pictures, has enabled the establishment of two fully endowed scholarships for the Fashion and Retail Studies Program at the university.
The Sherry Lansing Scholarship and the Sherry Lansing Leadership Scholarship will assist students in the program, which is located in the Department of Human Sciences in the College of Education and Human Ecology.
“I’m so pleased to establish these scholarships to help students at Ohio State pursue their dreams of a career in the fashion and retail industry,” Lansing said. “This is an incredibly rewarding industry and I’m eager to provide the educational tools and resources to help propel them to success.”
The Sherry Lansing Scholarship will be awarded to at least one student each year and will cover the entire cost of tuition and fees. The Sherry Lansing Leadership Scholarship will be awarded to an incoming freshman each year and will provide financial assistance to cover the cost of tuition and fees.
The Fashion and Retail Studies Program at Ohio State provides students with the skills and knowledge to excel in the fashion and retail industry. The program offers courses in merchandising, product management, visual merchandising and design, fashion promotion and many other areas.
“The Fashion and Retail Studies Program is very grateful for this generous donation from Sherry Lansing,” said Professor Melissa Beitner, director of the program. “This will allow us to provide greater access to educational opportunities for our students and help them to build a strong foundation for their future careers.”
