Noah Dettwiler (14th): First World Championship points at the trip to Texas / Moto3

In just his third race as a regular Moto3 rider, Noah Dettwiler (CIP Green Power Team) scored points at the Austin GP. A small mistake on lap 8 prevented a better placement.

Noah Dettwiler travels from the “Circuit of the Americas” with a smile on his face. The Swiss, who is a regular driver in this year’s Moto3 World Championship, raced from 21st to 16th after a good first lap. “Finally we got off to a good start, we didn’t make any mistakes and we also drove a good first lap. “So I was in the crowd from the start,” the Basel native said happily.

By the sixth lap, Dettwiler had worked his way up to 12th place. However, he made a mistake on lap 8 that affected his entire race: “On this lap I put the wrong gear because I braked too late. That’s why the connection was a little lost. I wanted to get it right away, but one error after another came. That was the only love I ruined. Otherwise I really enjoy my race. After that, the tires were already very worn out and without sliding on the long straights I couldn’t do anything,” explained the 18-year-old after the race.

Dettwiler crossed the finish line 27.575 seconds behind winner David Alonso (CFMOTO) in 14th place to collect his first two world championship points.

Finally, the KTM rider summed it up: “I’m still happy with my first points, even if it was a bit of a shame that I lost the group. On the other hand, it’s a mistake I can learn from. Being in the top 15 for the first time is a great feeling and makes you want more. But now we have to sit down and continue our work from time to time.

Mentor Tom Lüthi was also satisfied with his member’s performance: “Congratulations to Noah for his first points in the World Championships. This was a race you had to finish and stay seated. Now it’s important to build on that and keep improving.”
