The 2025 Acura MDX Features Many Small Modifications That Add Up To A Big Difference

It doesn’t feel like it’s been long since Acura refreshed its three-row SUV — it debuted for the 2022 model year — but the company has been working to revamp its lineup over the past few years. Following the revamp of the TLX sedan, it’s time for the popular MDX to get the same treatment. Speaking of performance, the 2025 Acura MDX doesn’t bring any technical changes into the mix. Non-S-Type trims still get the standard 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 290 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and either front- or all-wheel drive. The Type S still gets the same 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine that produces 355 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque, through a modified version of the same 10-speed transmission.

So has has it been changed? Fortunately, the automaker made the most impactful changes where it matters most: the interior.

These days, you can pretty much expect all-screen automakers to fit bigger and brighter screens with every design update. At first glance, the 2025 Acura MDX is no exception. This new 12.3-inch unit is larger than its predecessor and comes with built-in Google apps to keep popular features like Maps, Google Assistant and the Google Play Store close at hand without having to use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto (you. yet you canthough).

The real trick with this new model is not only that there is a new infotainment screen, but yes it is not here this time. This new unit offers Acura’s True Touchpad Interface which was…let’s just say a mixed bag. I personally didn’t find the 1-to-1 interface as annoying as Lexus’ touchpad solution once I got used to it, but it still didn’t feel natural, despite Acura’s best intentions. Now, the new infotainment setup not only gets more convenient apps and better responsiveness, but you don’t have to fiddle around with a narrow touchpad to access the features you want, either. Since touch is out of the equation, Acura reconfigured the center console to move the volume rocker closer to your hand and make the wireless charging pad easier to use.

Another interior update for the 2025 Acura MDX concerns the audio system. The ELS system Acura has been using for decades has been discontinued, and instead we get a Bang & Olufsen setup. True audiophiles will want to gravitate toward the higher end of the MDX S range with the Advance Package, as that model gets a big boost. 31-speaker configuration with 24 channels and 8.8 inch subwoofer. The popular MDX Type S with Advance models gets AcruaWatch 360, which adds forward traffic warning, lane change collision mitigation and active lane change assist.

While exact pricing for the 2025 Acura MDX isn’t yet available, there shouldn’t be much movement from the outgoing model’s low $50,000 starting price. Basically, the trim walk is the same as before, although you can now choose A-Spec with the Advance Package, instead of choosing between sportier styles and better technology. The MDX S model too loses its option without the Advance Package, so there is only one option for the Type S with the Advance Package as a fully loaded model.
