It’s been more than a year since Ford shared the first images of the new electric Explorer. The Explorer is the most important model Ford has introduced in a long time. The SUV is more compact in size and lower in price than the successful Mustang Mach-E. This makes the Browser accessible to a wider audience. The car uses proven technology: Ford turned to Volkswagen for the Explorer platform. So Ford shares its technology with, for example, Volkswagen ID.4 and Skoda Enyaq iV.

The browser will be available in three types of battery and power, and in two different equipment levels. The base model is the Explorer Standard Range RWD, which has a 52kWh battery and a single electric motor with 170 hp. For this version, Ford currently specifies a range of 384 km. The top model is the Extended Range RWD Explorer. It has a larger battery pack, with a capacity of 79 kWh. A second electric motor is located between the front wheels of this version, which increases the combined power to 340 hp. The advantage of a four-wheel drive is a higher towing capacity of 1,200 kg (instead of 1,000 kg). Due to high power and high consumption, a range of 566 km can be achieved.
