When the 36-year-old entered the Rostock district court on Tuesday, it must have been clear to him what to expect. During the main session, the accused confessed to the crimes. For this he was given a reduced sentence. “His confession spared the courtroom from taking much more evidence,” said presiding judge Peter Goebels in announcing the decision. The defendant tried to look as bored as possible, which did not please the judge: “Please listen!” warned Goebels.

Among other things, he admitted to trying to cheat: At the beginning of 2023, a car dealer offered a Porsche 911 Carrera for sale. The defendant was interested in the luxury car, but did not register it in time, so the seller sold the car to another interested party. The 36-year-old took this as an opportunity to capitalize on the issue.

Finally, the seller and the defendant agreed on a compensation payment of 1,500 euros, which the convicted person must pay. The judge saw “great criminal energy” in the extortion attempt.

The court also evaluated the five thefts between 2019 and 2023 in the same way, where he broke construction containers and companies “with others” and stole construction machines and tools worth tens of thousands of euros. The convicted person did not say who the other parties were. He cannot appeal against the sentence.
