Rare Maserati MC12 Versione Corse for sale

The auction house RM Sotheby’s auctioned the Maserati MC 12 Corsa in orange in Paris on January 31, 2024. The warning color is correct: the Corse is about 200 kg lighter than the Stradale and, with 755 hp, about 120 hp more powerful. There are no driving aids like ABS or traction control, nor is it street legal – and that’s probably for the best.

Sale price: 3.0 million euros

Just a few important data: The mid-engined sports car accelerates from standstill to 200 km/h in 6.4 seconds. The estimated price was 2.8 to 3.5 million euros. At the auction, Maserati achieved a sale price of three million euros. Anyone who acquired one of the 12 Corse from Maserati in 2007 paid one million euros – so the super sports car was a worthwhile investment. According to the details, the original German owner, who also had a Ferrari FXX in his collection, moved the car very little.

Available at Girardo & Co. in 2020

London sports car dealer, Girardo & Co. had already released the orange Maserati MC12 Versione Corse with chassis number ZAMDF44B000029631 to go on sale in the spring of 2020. In 2004 and 2005, Maserati built 50 supersports cars called the MC12 based on the Ferrari Enzo Ferrari – in fact only 25 were to be built, but even the most loyal customers put pressure on them and demanded more.

Available by invitation only

MC12 GT1 racing cars dominated the FIA GT Championship in 2005/2006, which dispelled any doubts among buyers about the sporting potential of the MC12 Corsa. Maserati saw the time had come for a smaller model: To celebrate victory in the 2005 FIA GT World Championship, the Italians launched 14 examples of the MC12 Versione Corse. Only the best Maserati customers were allowed to buy it at a price of 1.2 million euros – the orange example was previously bought by a German who was also a good Ferrari customer. For example, he also had a Ferrari FXX. Like the Ferrari FXX, the Maserati MC12 Versione Corse is not intended to be used in the race series, but on track days. At that time, the manufacturer took care of transportation, maintenance and repairs.

Strong and loud

With the exception of two examples, the MC12 Versione Corse are not vintage legal works, but other owners have legalized their MC12 racers in recent years. Maserati’s 6.0-liter V12 produces 755 hp – and makes an unbelievable noise. Timing travels to the rear wheels via a six-speed Cambiocorsa transmission.

The old MC12 engines completely replaced the engine of this model.

Maserati MC12 Corsa weighs only 1,150 kg. It takes only 6.4 seconds to reach 200 km/h. The top speed is 326 km/h. According to Girardo & Co., the previous owner had the engine completely replaced by old MC-12 mechanics, and the Ferrari dealer recently changed the engine oil, brake fluid and clutch.

Yes, if I were rich, I would spend time like this too.No, I’m not throwing my money away for such crazy fun.

The Maserati MC12 Versione Corse is only 17 years old – and it’s already unique. The unusual sports car attracted a lot of attention when it was introduced – the huge success of the “regular” MC12 race car further cemented its reputation.

The model offered now is very attractive with its bright orange color – a special request, after all the colors “Victory Blue” were only available from the factory. This MC12 Versione Corse should put down good figures on track days and races.
