For example, student Kia Kalhori wants the residents of Enschede to experience war

Kia Kalhori has fled Iran and even here in Holland he still has to face the war every day. “I always have to face the war because it is constantly mentioned on the news channels and on the radio in Iran,” says Kia. He sees the violence of war as bad. That’s why he decided to do a music project about it for his master’s degree. “Music is the most powerful way to convey a message. With this project I want to make sure that people can feel the war,” says Kia.

Show emotion

He should do a project for his training. For this he uses music, sound effects and sound fragments. War refugees record these audio fragments. They tell their stories about the war. To ensure that people finally feel the war, Kia creates a design. In this he covers, for example, the sounds of bombs, guns and air raid sirens. “I want to convey an anti-war message.”

He quickly realized that he did not want to do this project just for school. Kia wants to turn his compositions into live performances for everyone. “I want to do more with this project. I want to achieve something with this,” says Kia. The performance can be seen on June 23 at the Oude Markt in Enschede.

Call

Kia is still looking for children or adults who want to record their war stories. Would you like to help with this? Then send Esther Schopman, Enschede city hostess, an email! (email protected)
