Gerald F. Beaudoin, an esteemed 98-year-old, has dedicated much of his life to his beloved hometown, and he attributes his successful career to a simple notion: kindness.

Beaudoin’s journey began in 1923, when he began working at a local department store. The store served as a launching pad for Beaudoin, as he quickly rose through the ranks and gained invaluable experience.

The Ottawa native eventually transitioned to a role with the municipal government, where he served for over 25 years. During his tenure, he held a variety of positions, including that of a supervisor. He also served as a political advisor to the mayor.

It was through these roles that Beaudoin was able to witness the city’s transformation, from a small town to a bustling metropolis. To this day, he remains an essential part of the city’s fabric.

Beaudoin credits much of his success to his unyielding commitment to kindness. “It’s simple,” he says. “Treat people with respect and kindness and they will do the same for you.”
