On the cusp of a momentous occasion for one of Prince Edward Island’s most seasoned business owners, Wayne Proude will bid an affectionate yet bittersweet adieu to the shoe industry in May after a spectacular 65-year tenure.
It’s been a prodigious journey for the man who initially began as a humble shoe repairman, one who has since developed a reputation of incomparable excellence in the province. In the time since his embarkment into the shoe business, Proude has established a legacy of distinction that will remain etched in the hearts and minds of Islanders for centuries to come.
In the wake of his retirement, Proude has decided to close the doors of his shop for good, thus bringing to an end an epoch of prosperity that has seen him serve countless customers, many of whom have become close friends. To them, Proude has been a source of incomparable guidance and assistance, one that has been instrumental in helping them to find the perfect fit.
Though his passion and commitment to the shoe industry will be sorely missed, Proude has decided to move on to other pursuits, endeavors that will undoubtedly be met with the same level of success as his time in the shoe business.
For now, however, Proude is content to bask in the splendour of his accomplishments, reflecting on the past 65 years with profound gratitude. As he looks ahead to the next chapter of his life, Proude can take solace in the knowledge that his presence will be remembered fondly by those whose lives he has touched.
Come May, the venerable Mr. Proude will bid farewell to the shoe business, and in doing so, bring to a close a remarkable era of achievement and distinction.
