Borromeodesilva has launched his new creation, based on the Ford Mustang from the 1960s. This Restomod, called STL-1, takes the lines of the famous American muscle car, while showing a ground clearance that can make you jealous of the current SUV. Pricing hasn’t been revealed, but we do know that production will be very limited.

How to make a classic Ford Mustang more American? Do you keep a .44 Magnum in the glove compartment? Would you like to draw a banner with a star on the hat? All this must have already been done, more ideas are needed … The Italian coach found the perfect idea: to combine the Mustang with a 4×4 designed for the road. The result is called STL-1, and it belongs to Borromeodesilva, an Italian producer.

You’ll agree, the Mustang isn’t the first car you think of when you want to build an off-road machine from scratch. Obviously, this did not reduce the enthusiasm of small Italian pharmacies, which even succeeded quite well! The STL-1 has only just been revealed, but it’s a safe bet that it’s going to get a lot of attention, with its retro-futuristic rally car styling, ready to face the apocalypse.

Therefore, the exterior has the same lines as the original Mustang. Well, almost exactly, as the entire upper part of the bodywork has been stripped. Only the steel rods, which serve as a system in general, remain, allowing the driver to feel connected to the environment in which he works. There’s also a new pair of round headlights at the front, LED lights at the rear, along with a set of off-road tires. The STL-1 comes in two colors, orange and black.

Inside, the dashboard is very open. Analog meters are placed behind the steering wheel, while the manufacturer has placed 7 push buttons, each associated with a small magnifying glass. Other accessories include an Alcantara steering wheel, metal floor plates as well as a text recalling the restomod name.

Under the hood, this top-wheeled Mustang has a 5.0 Road Runner V8, developing 335 horsepower and 515 Nm of torque. It may not seem like much, but remember that the goal of this machine is not to break speed records, but to climb trees! That is why its ground clearance is increased, while it is equipped with a reinforced chassis and special suspension.

Unfortunately, Borromeodesilva does not communicate any prices for this restomod that smells like Uncle Sam’s Country. The developer also describes this machine as “a fusion of American muscle and Italian style”. We love Italy, but no matter how tough we look, we smell more burger than pizza when we look at this STL-1. Production is expected to be very limited.
