WEC. In Imola, Ferrari still has no strategy, this time in the WEC

There was a hat-trick in qualifying. And a big bang in the race. After dominating the Hyperpole, the Scuderia had sent a clear message to the competition. On Italian soil, it will be difficult to find 499P.

The first laps of the race confirmed this situation with the dominance of red hypercars. Even with the penalty for the AF Corse team’s number 83, the racehorses dominated the proceedings. Other prototypes were able to take the lead for a short time, through pit stops.

Mistakes before and after rain

Then the rain came. In the difficult conditions, the Ferraris seemed very comfortable with the soft tyres. They were faster. While several cars went into the pits to set the correct tires, the Reds stayed on track. As the drops doubled in strength.

A decision you questioned shortly after. Rubbers with grooves were finally faster. But Ferrari was late to name its supercars, which caused it to fall down the order. As the track dried up, once again, all three cars were called back to the pits late.

Once the slick tires were on, the competitors made short work of the 499Ps. With cold tires on the trick track, Ferrari was struggling. Porsche and Toyota had no trouble turning a profit.

Antonio Fuoco on the rhythm hell

Despite the incredible speed, Antonio Fuoco – the man from the pole position – did not manage to climb back to the first place. He eventually failed in fourth place, with a daring maneuver in the #8 Toyota on the last loop of the Emilia-Romagna track.

With the Italian’s aggression on his land, there is reason to be disappointed in the Maranello clan. Because victory was possible and maybe even a hat-trick with the sister car and that of the AF Corse team. The mainstream media risks not favoring the company.
