The family SUV thus becomes the first vehicle from the German manufacturer to benefit from Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform, introduced by the new Peugeot 3008.

The new Grandland represents an important step for Opel. With it, all Opels in the range are now available in a 100% electric version. This is a big step forward in our lightning attack. The new Grandland will therefore strengthen our position in the important C-SUV segment,” say Florian HuettlCEO of Opel.

Bigger and more spacious

The second generation Opel Grandland is based on a new chassis, which gives it a more impressive size. With its length of 4,650 mm (+173 mm compared to its predecessor), its width of 1,905 mm (+64 mm) and height of 1,660 mm (+19 mm), the SUV is now between its two cousins in three colors, the Peugeot 3008 and 5008, in terms of dimensions. The first being an SUV coupe, the new Granland therefore tends to be closer to the large 7-seater Simba SUV.

The second-generation Grandland also features Opel’s new front fascia, called the 3D Vizor, linked to the brand’s electric light logo. The latter is accompanied by a new lighting signature that debuts on this model, consisting of more than 50,000 LED parts. At the rear, we also see for the first time the integration of the illuminated word “Opel”, while the name of the car is no longer displayed in chrome letters but in relief in the center of the tailgate.

The interior also offers many new features, starting with a completely redesigned dashboard. Behind the steering wheel, the dimensions of the digital instruments are reduced from twelve to ten inches, while those of the central screen increase to 16 inches, compared to ten in the previous generation. Good news for those more reluctant to use digital controls, as Opel has opted for physical buttons for frequently used settings, such as the air conditioning.

With its more impressive size, the new Opel Grandland logically offers a more spacious interior. So more than 35 liters of interior storage are available, with increased housing and trunk volume that increases from 214 to 550 l.

Hybrid and 100% electric engines

Based on the new Stellantis design, STLA Medium, the new Opel Grandland now offers a range of fully electric engines. Therefore, the family SUV first of all retains its 48 V 136 hp hybrid version, which is already present in the first generation Grandland. The latter, however, has a new 195 hp hybrid engine, which offers up to 85 kilometers of electric range.
