Citroen Berlingo, Fiat Doblo, Peugeot Partner, Opel Combo and Renault Kangoo Van with Euro NCAP gold badge

Euro NCAP awarded a gold rating for crash avoidance systems to the Citroen Berlingo, Fiat Doblo, Peugeot Partner, Opel Combo and Renault Kangoo Van.

Euro NCAP has published safety ratings for eight vehicles in the small car category, many of which have similar passenger versions. Cars that have achieved the Euro NCAP gold rating include the Citroën Berlingo and its twin, Fiat Doblo, Opel Combo and Peugeot Partner, as well as the Renault Kangoo Van.

Unlike the Euro NCAP passenger car safety rating, the light commercial vehicle rating focuses mainly on crash avoidance technology. This is because in accidents involving commercial vehicles, most victims are in the oncoming vehicle or among vulnerable road users.

“Since small cars are often based on passenger cars, their drivers can expect better safety standards. So the good news is that the results of these offerings are gold and platinum in abundance.” – said Dr. Aled Williams, director of the Euro NCAP program. “We had difficulty finding a car with these test options. Commercial vehicle manufacturers often offer safety technologies, but rarely encourage buyers to opt for this important, potentially life-saving device.

The highest rating in Euro NCAP for commercial vehicles is platinum.
