Stellantis is changing the way new cars are ordered. The concern, which includes the Peugeot, Citroën and Opel brands, has introduced a new booking system – no advance payment, but also no price or delivery guarantee.

Consumers were hit hard by the shortage of semiconductors in the automotive market. On the one hand, we are dealing with a significant increase in prices at retailers. On the other hand, the limited availability of cars, especially in selected dimensions. In addition, there is a long waiting time for the delivery of the car. It turns out that after almost a year, customers still do not know exactly when they will get a new car, we also receive information about canceling orders. The conflict continues, as evidenced by Stellantis’ decision to change the car ordering model. Brand customers Peugeot, Citroën and Opel who would like to buy a new car can make a reservation that does not require the manufacturer to do anything. There is no price guarantee, which not so long ago served dealers as an incentive for customers, even there is no guarantee that the car will be delivered at all.

“The global situation resulting from the sanitary crisis and the shortage of semiconductors is still volatile and affects the sales of cars also in the Polish market. We strive to provide the best delivery service to our customers. Despite these efforts, we may face longer delivery times leading to some models that have been released for production. That is why we have introduced a new car reservation system. Thanks to that, the customer will be able to reserve a car for production without making an advance payment, and then make a purchase decision after confirmation of the final conditions of transactions, such as delivery date or price” – we received information from Stellantis Polska.

Although the official statement raised the issue of the crisis in the car market, it is also said behind the scenes that the company is trying to sell not the cars that the customer chooses, but the models that are more beneficial to Stellantis. This is where electric and hybrid cars, which are being promoted a lot, come to mind. It’s sad that the customer loses sight of the importance of all this.
