New full-time driver althe Jakobsen will share the Peugeot 9X8 with Loïc Duval and Stoffel Vandoorne in the 2025 season of the World Sportscar Championship (FIA WEC). Paul di Resta joins Mikkel Jensen and Jean-Éric Vergne.
The FIA WEC will start the 2025 season in Qatar on February 28, Peugeot will also enter two 9X8s in the hypercar class. With Malthe Jakobsen, Loïc Duval, Stoffel Vandoorne, Paul di Resta, Mikkel Jensen and Jean-Éric Vergne, six French drivers had been determined for the time being. However, it was still unclear what design they would have in 2025.
Peugeot has now made this clear. Paul di Resta, Mikkel Jensen and Jean-Éric Vergne share the 9X8 with starting number #93. Malthe Jakobsen, Loïc Duval and Stoffel Vandoorne are sitting in the sister car with #94. Jakobsen is new to the squad in 2025. The young Dane already knows the 9X8 well, having previously been a test and reserve driver for Peugeot. A temporary position became available to him after Nico Müller left Peugeot.
“We have created our series based on the right balance between experience and evolution,” explains Olivier Jansonnie (Technical Director of Peugeot Sport in the FIA WEC). «Mikkel Jensen, Jean-Éric Vergne and Paul di Resta in car number 93 bring a strong bond, proven expertise and great stability. While Loïc Duval, Stoffel Vandoorne and Malthe Jakobsen in car number 94 combine the strategic vision of experienced drivers with the energy and confidence of promising young talents.”
Théo Pourchaire, who completed his first endurance test in December, is also part of the 2025 squad. He is the new test driver in Peugeot’s WEC program.
