On April 1, Ignasi Prieto will become the new director of the Cupra brand, replacing the position of chief operating officer previously held by Sven Schuwirth.

Sven Schuwirth, Chief Operating Officer, will give way – from April 1 – to Ignasi Prieto, the new director of the Cupra brand, a newly created position in the company. He will lead the global marketing strategy for the Spanish carmaker. Ignasi Prieto reports directly to Wayne Griffiths, CEO of Cupra, and will work side-by-side with Sven Schuwirth, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Seat SA.

Ignasi Prieto has 20 years of experience

Ignasi Prieto is no stranger to the industry as he has 20 years of experience in marketing and advertising within the automotive industry. His career at Seat SA began in 2015 as the brand’s global marketing director. After two years in this role, he was appointed global director of brand content, sponsorship and social media at Seat SA In January 2020, he was appointed global marketing director at Cupra and, in October 2021, became global marketing director of. Seat and Cupra.

Prior to joining Seat SA, he worked for over 8 years at Nissan Motor Corporation, where he held various positions in advertising, business strategy and retail customer experience. He also has extensive experience as an account executive at communications and advertising agencies such as McCann Erickson, Delvico Bates and TBWA.

Ignasi Prieto graduated and received an MBA (Master of Business Administration) from Esade Business School in 1998. Additionally, he completed an international management program at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
