ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A towing company recently linked to a multi-county crime spree last week was known to follow strict paperwork rules when car owners came to pick up their cars, according to people who work at rival towing companies, which could provide detectives. way to catch the mysterious killers.

Juan Cintron-Garcia, owner of JL Towing, was killed in his driveway last week when gunmen opened fire on his home.

Investigators said JL Towing towed a 2002 green Acura sedan after it was found illegally parked at an apartment complex in March.

They also believe the Acura was used as the getaway car in the shooting, as well as the one used to kidnap and kill Katherine Aguasvivas about 14 hours after Cintron-Garcia’s death.

When someone came to pick up the Acura, they would be required to show identification and proof of ownership.

It’s unclear what would have happened since the title had not been transferred from the car’s previous owners, and the car had a series of stolen temporary tags, deputies said.

It is unclear why Cintron-Garcia was targeted before the kidnapping. Investigators have not yet publicly disclosed any cause of death. A JL Towing manager declined to comment when asked Tuesday.

The Acura was found abandoned for the second time on Saturday and towed in for service. However, considering the level of sophistication seen in these crimes, investigators are keeping their hopes low.

“I know people are going to say, well, we’ll just find out who took the car and all that,†Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma said. “They send innocent people, and say, “Hey, I need you to go down there and pick up this car, I’ll give you 500 bucks, $1,000 (dollars) to pick it up. up.’ So it’s not easy.â

Lemma has so far refused to say whether he believes the crime is linked to gangs or gangs, saying only that his deputies were investigating the possibility.
