A rugged Toyota 4Runner would be comfortable enough for everyday use

Grab your roof tent, Toyota has unveiled the new 4Runner. This model has been around for fourteen years and according to rumors, one has never broken. Okay, that might be an exaggeration. The Toyota 4Runner now has a 2.4-liter turbo four-cylinder under the hood. It produces 282 hp and 430 Nm, making it 8 hp more than its predecessor with a 4.0 liter six-cylinder. Toyota is also available in a hybrid variant, the 4Runner has 330 hp and 630 Nm. This is also the most powerful 4Runner Toyota has ever produced.

It’s no ordinary four-wheel drive

The new Toyota 4Runner comes with rear-wheel drive and a limited slip differential. Fear not, 4Runners are also available in 4WD. One with permanent four-wheel drive and one that can cut two wheels to save fuel.

The Multi-Terrain selection system makes it easy to farm everything. On board you can put your Toyota 4Runner on any terrain. And apparently the cruise control for off-roading is quiet. Good if you have a highway and important neighbors.

Toyota 4Runner Trailhunter

For those for whom the standard 4Runner is not tough enough, Toyota has made the Trailhunter. This comes standard with large shock absorbers from ARB and has a roof rack as standard. For people who are afraid of the dark, there is also an LED light bar. For the campers among us: this is the model you want, because you are already prepared with a power supply for your cool box, for example.

It is not yet known what the price of the Toyota 4Runner will cost. It is expected on American roads by the end of the year.
