Kassel-Unterneustadt:

After a rear-end collision between two cars and a white Citroen that left a woman with minor injuries Friday afternoon near Germany’s Unity Square, police are searching for the person involved in the crash and are appealing for information from witnesses. The driver of the car, who was not identified at first, stopped, but eventually sped away when other people involved in the accident wanted to take pictures of the damage.

The accident happened on Friday around 3:40 am. All three vehicles were traveling from Scharnhorststrasse in the middle lane of Dresdener Strasse towards German Unity Square. The seat and the Fiat behind it had to stop because of the traffic. The Citroen driver behind apparently realized this too late and rammed into the stationary Fiat, which in turn was pushed into the Seat. A 52-year-old woman behind the wheel of the Fiat suffered minor injuries. Initially, the driver of the car got out, but due to the damage, he tore off his front number plate and fled in his car towards Altmarkt. It is said to be a white Citroen panel van, possibly a Jumpy model, with Slovakian license plates. The man behind the wheel is described as a 45- to 60-year-old man, about 1.70 meters tall, thin with a slight belly, light curly hair, a hat and worn clothes, who spoke German with an accent.

Investigators from the crash team are asking witnesses who can provide information about the white Citroen panel car or the driver to contact Kassel police on 0561-9100.
