The Electric Mercedes-Benz C-Class is coming next year

Mercedes-Benz is testing its all-electric C-Class sedan under snowy conditions in Sweden. Expected to go on sale next year, the electric C-Class will feature distinctive LED lighting elements, a sculpted front grille, and a futuristic grille, marking a departure from conventional combustion engine models.

C-Class EV details

The electric C-Class will feature a state-of-the-art battery system that is expected to deliver impressive range on a single charge, making it a real choice for everyday use. The EV will feature the latest generation Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system that includes a large touchscreen interface, audio controls and smartphone connectivity. Additionally, the car will have advanced driver assistance features, including autonomous driving capabilities.

New special EV platforms

The electric C-Class is expected to be priced competitively to appeal to a wider market. It is positioned in key international markets, with a phased release plan. Last year, Mercedes-Benz revealed its upcoming electrification plans in its annual financial presentation. The automaker plans to have an electric alternative for every model in their lineup in the next few years. To achieve this, Mercedes will introduce three specific electric platforms.

The three EV platforms will be MB.EA – a common base for medium and large passenger cars, AMG.EA – a performance-specific architecture for the AMG versions and VAN.EA – for electric vans and light commercial applications. These EV platforms are expected to be introduced by 2025. This will allow dedicated BEVs to be built from the ground up rather than being conversions of ICE versions.
