Polestar 4: the discovery of an electric SUV coupe

Despite its number 4, Polestar’s latest creation is actually located between its current sedan 2 and its impressive SUV 3. It looks more powerful than the first, however it is 24 cm longer, 15 cm wider and 6 cm higher than the entry-level Polestar. Its 2-part light signature, on the other hand, is similar to that of the 3. But the most remarkable of its characteristics is clearly its tail without a rear window!

No bezel, but space

This perfect gate really doesn’t bother you once inside, at least while standing. Thanks to the large panel roof that can, as an option, be electronic and therefore opaque at the push of a button, but also thanks to its 3 meter wheel, you don’t feel locked in the back. On the contrary, the available space, knees and head, is royal! It’s just a shame that the high floor prevents you from sliding your feet under the front seats. The trunk of the Polestar 4 is not left out and the volume changes from 526 to 1,536 l. A second 15 liter storage space, just big enough to hold a Type 2 charging cable, is also hidden under the front hood.

Large horizontal screen instead of vertical

Up front, materials and finishes are of good quality and in line with values we’ve already seen in other cars from the brand. What’s different from other Polestars is the 15.4-inch center screen that’s positioned horizontally here. On the other hand, it’s still managed by Google and looks as responsive and easy to use as the Polestar 2. Finally, its instrument cluster with improved visibility measures 10.2 inches diagonally while the optional head-up display measures 14.7 inches.

Up to 400 kW (544 hp) and 686 Nm or 610 km of range

Two versions of the Polestar 4, both with a 100 kWh battery, are currently available. With its single rear motor, the Long Range Single Motor has 200 kW (272 hp) and 343 Nm to reach 100 km / h in 7.1 s. Available from €64,800, it claims a range of up to 610 km. The Long Range Dual Motor starts at €72,800 and develops 400 kW (544 hp) and 686 Nm of torque! It is enough to reach 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds making this version the fastest Polestar! A variant that also maintains a maximum range of 580 km. Its 400 V design allows it to claim a maximum charging power of 200 kW going from 10 to 80% in half an hour.

A good first meeting confirmed in August?

The least we can say is that on paper and also when stationary, the latest Polestar convinces and does not leave a difference. It remains to be seen if these good first impressions will be confirmed when we get behind the wheel. We hope that this first treatment will take place around August, the date of the arrival of the first copies in Europe.
