Cupra: First spy shots of Raval’s small electric car

The sister of the sporty Cupra unveiled the UrbanRebel electric car concept in 2021. There should be a first glimpse of a production model called the Raval. A closer draft (pictures of the article) was published later. Now the first spy photos have appeared online.

The car pictured is still heavily camouflaged. The coupe-like shape of the latest Raval official preview can only be guessed at. However, it can be seen that, as expected, the electric car comes with a smaller appearance than the first official model in the form of UrbanRebel.

The 4080 mm long UrbanRebel or Raval is described as a small electric car for urban areas that, according to the brand, has a sporty look. The street version of the UrbanRebel, planned for the middle of the decade, will combine “stunning design and incredible dynamics,” it was said when the concept car was presented.

A shortened version of the conventional electric drive system (MEB) from parent company Volkswagen serves as the technical basis. The design was described at its premiere as “the brand’s revolution towards a more progressive design language”. The previous view should be retained: “playability and character that make Cupra an unusual Challenger brand”.

The UrbanRebel has a continuous output of 250 kW (340 hp) and a peak output of 320 kW (435 hp). It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.2 seconds. More details about the technology such as the range are yet to be published. This also applies to serial vehicle data.

Volkswagen has announced three models on the new small electric car platform. In addition to the Raval, the ID.2 from the core VW brand is offered. There is also a small electric car from Skoda. All three electric cars are built by Seat Group in Spain. Raval may be in a less expensive position than VW and Skoda models. The Cupra brand is currently being promoted by Seat primarily because its sporty and premium positioning enables better prices to be achieved than for Seat models.
