Polestar eyes Gulch location for first Tennessee showroom – The Business Journals

Polestar, the performance electric vehicle brand of Volvo Cars, is eyeing a Gulch area location in Nashville as its first showroom in Tennessee.

The Swedish automaker is in the process of negotiating a lease with a local developer for a 6,000-square-foot space, The Business Journals has learned.

Although a deal has yet to be finalized, Polestar is reportedly envisioning a space to showcase the company’s two models — the Polestar 2 and the Polestar Precept — as well as serve as a service center for existing owners.

The location, at 431 12th Ave. S., is owned by Nashville-based real estate developer MarketStreet Enterprises, which has been behind a number of prominent projects in the city, including the Gulch Crossing Building, The Gulch, and the 12th & Pine project.

The building, which was completed in 2019, is home to multiple tenants, including music streaming company Soundstripe and interior design firm House of Honey.

If the deal is completed, Polestar would join a number of other luxury car brands that already have showrooms in the Gulch, including Tesla, Audi, BMW, Lexus, Cadillac, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche.

The Polestar 2, which is the company’s flagship model, is a fully electric car with a range of up to 300 miles and a starting price of $59,900.

The Precept, meanwhile, is a concept car that was unveiled earlier this year and is expected to arrive in 2022. It features a range of up to 450 miles and a host of advanced technologies, including a 15-inch touchscreen display and a driver monitoring system.

Polestar is owned by Chinese automotive conglomerate Geely and was established in 2017 with the goal of developing electric performance cars.

The company has showrooms in a handful of U.S. cities, including Austin, Boston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, San Francisco, and Seattle.

It also has plans for a showroom in Atlanta.
