Polestar, Tesla’s competitor, launches its first phone


Polestar, Tesla’s competitor, has officially launched its first smartphone in China. Contrary to previous rumors previously, the smartphone is not a new version of the Meizu 20 Pro. Instead, it is a new version of the Meizu 21 Pro. This means that the phone has the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 under the hood (Galaxy S24 with the same SoC is currently $724.99 at Amazon)

Other features of the Polestar Phone are also similar. Like Meizu 21 ProIt has three cameras on the back. This configuration includes a 50 MP primary camera with OIS, a 13 MP ultra-wide camera, and a 10 MP telephoto lens. As for the battery, it has a 5050 mAh cell with 80 watt fast charging support. The phone also it can charge wirelessly at 50 watts.

On the front, Polestar’s first phone has an AMOLED display LTPO developed by BOE, with a refresh rate of 120 Hz made by BOE, with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, an aspect ratio of 21:9 and a PWM dimming of 2160 Hz This is the same screen as that of the Meizu 21 Pro.

What is slightly different, however, is the screen of the Meizu 21 Pro Android smartphone skin. It runs Polestar Phone OS, which is probably a special version of Meizu FlyMe OS. Chinese media reports that it looks similar to the operating system used in Polestar electric cars.

Additionally, the Polestar Mobile operating system emphasizes the following Artificial intelligence functions. This includes AI image search, photo editing features, and text summarization. It also uses Polestar Link, which allows users to check the status of a paired electric vehicle, receive phone support, and more.

As for the price, the Polestar Phone is only available in the 16GB/1TB version and costs CNY 7,388 in China (about $1,020). Pricing and international availability have yet to be confirmed.
