This new smartphone from OnePlus has 24GB(!) of RAM

OnePlus has launched a new flagship phone in its home country of China. This refers to the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro, which may have no less than 24GB of RAM. It is not yet clear whether the device will also come to the Netherlands.

OnePlus Ace 2 Pro has an incredible amount of RAM

With the Ace 2 Pro, OnePlus is adding a premium smartphone to its range. The device uses the super-fast Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip and has a 6.74-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2772 by 1240. The refresh rate is 120Hz for smooth images. Moreover, you can fill the large 5000 mAh battery in 20 minutes thanks to the 150 Watt charger.

However that is not the most amazing feature of this phone. The entry-level version of the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro already has 12GB of RAM, but you can also upgrade it to 24GB of RAM. Most laptops have to do with less.

More RAM is important if you have several programs running in the background and want to be able to multitask quickly. Still, we wonder if you notice a big difference (at least for now) between the version with 12GB and the one with 24GB RAM.

Last year’s OnePlus 10T

The first OnePlus Ace Pro appeared in the Netherlands last year under a different name: OnePlus 10T. OnePlus confirmed earlier this year that the smartphone will not have a successor. This makes it very uncertain if the Ace 2 Pro will come to our market at all. If that happens, however, it won’t be called the OnePlus 11T.

If the device does cross over to Europe, OnePlus will likely place it under the OnePlus 11. Despite the powerful hardware, the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro lacks luxury. This makes the camera very convenient. In addition to the 50-megapixel main camera, you get an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 2-megapixel main lens for close-ups. The latter is almost unusable.

A new RAM race has begun

For years, 8GB RAM was the norm for high-end smartphones, including OnePlus. Over the last few generations, that gradually rose to 12 and then to 16GB. Now it seems we have reached the new limit of 24GB of RAM.

After all, Ace Pro 2 is not the only Chinese smartphone with this amount of RAM. The same goes for ZTE Nubia Redmagic 8S Pro Plus and Xiaomi Redmi K60 Ultra. The second one can be seen in the Netherlands this season as the Xiaomi 13T Pro.
