Some news in front of the Arena bridge in Mazara del Vallo can arrive this afternoon. Yesterday, an emergency meeting was held in Palermo, at the regional council for infrastructure, to deal with this problem that has now kept the city of Mazara hostage for 16 months. Endless works whose end is still in sight and which, for now, have led the former Province to order the complete closure of vehicular and pedestrian traffic to allow, hopefully, the completion of the intervention in the shortest possible time. Yesterday’s meeting, chaired by the regional councilor Alessandro Aricò, was attended by the president of the “Ponte Arena” committee, Alessandro Culicchia, the mayor of Mazara, Salvatore Quinci, regional deputy Nicola Catania and, representing the former Region project manager. However, the company doing the work did not attend the meeting. The company itself should provide some clarifications today and only then a decision will be made on what to do, at least allowing a temporary and partial solution pending the completion of the work. A solution that would have already been recognized but the president of the Culicchia committee has already mentioned that it may be “unsatisfactory” for the people of Mazara.
