Toyota did it against Ferrari and Porsche, in the WEC! BMW wins the beginner’s prize – Le Mag Sport Auto

What a mistake! While Ferrari, after his hat-trick in qualifying, had all the cards in hand to take the first positions at the 6h of Imola in the WEC, the Italian team ruined everything…By staying on track when the rain arrived, while everyone was changing tires, the Italians lost their chances of victory and even a podium finish. Knowing that before that, several mistakes and penalties had already weakened the quality of the Italians.

WEC: Peugeot has come a long way

Finished 4th, 7th and 8th respectively, Ferrari numbers 50, 51 and 83 (in that order) will have reason to regret their strategy. But why on earth did you put your eggs in one basket by taking a bet that you don’t take when you’re ruling the race!? Still, the Toyota driven by Kobayashi, De Vries and Conway did not miss its chance. A surprising victory for the Japanese manufacturer, which made its experience speak for itself…

At the back, Porsche did well to put two crews on the podium, the number 6 ahead of the number 5. While the Toyota no8 of Buemi, Hirakawa and Hartley completed the Top 5, just behind the best Ferrari. In sixth place, a nice surprise from BMW (also winner in LMGT3) and NO20, which achieved its best position in the WEC. In ninth place, Peugeot no.93 driven mainly by Jean-Eric Vergne will have made good progress, finishing in the points, after a disappointing qualifying. Cadillac completes the top ten.
