Potato chips! Chevrolet suspends production of Camaro

The Chevrolet Camaro is no longer in production at this time. But why? Are you preparing for the 2030 electricity future? Is there more chance of getting trivial SUV crossover items? No. The real reason is simple: there is a long-term shortage of computer chips. Without halvledare it is probably not possible for General Motors to build cars.

the doors are locked

The shortage of chips has forced the General to make a sacrifice. Production in several industries was already declining, but the situation seemed to be getting worse. So GM has decided to close the factory in Lansing, Michigan.

The factory is responsible for the production of Cadillac CT4 and CT5, and Camaro. Muscle car is the biggest victim as Cadillacs is also built in China.

Pickups, SUVs and Crossovers

There is a strong possibility that the Camaro was sacrificed to protect the most profitable pickup, SUV and crossover model lines. Even in those factories, however, the work is largely stalled and Silverados is currently out of line without turning off the cylinder. The shortage of chips is expected to last until the end of the year.

On the contrary Detroit News A GM spokesman described the situation: “We continue to work closely with our suppliers to find solutions and reduce the impact on GM. Our intention is to compensate as much as possible for lost production in these industries.”
