CHEVROLET NCS AT TEXAS: Elliott Caps Off Chevrolet’s Third Tripleheader Sweep In 2024 NASCAR Season – Speedway Digest

CHEVY TEAM QUOTES AFTER THE RACE: .CHASE ELLIOTT, NO. HOOTER 9 CAMARO ZL1 Completed: 1 Chase Elliott’s 42-run drought is over. You did everything right. How does it feel? “Oh, man, I couldn’t feel better. First of all, thank you to everyone who came out today. You guys are amazing people.
Hooters has been our partner for several years now. It has been my dream to pay tribute to the late Alan Kulwicki. Driving this car to victory and getting the Polish victory – it’s crazy how things came full circle at that point. It was a good feeling for me. He beat my father one day. Here we share its sponsor and get a chance to win today.
Man, I couldn’t be more grateful for this journey and kind of a path that hasn’t always been fun, but we’ve definitely enjoyed working with our people. We have been working very hard and very well together. Like I said, it hasn’t always been fun, but we’ve enjoyed the fight together.”
You said you fought together. Today was a battle at the racetrack. The race seemed crazy to run. How intense was it on the track? “It was just crazy. This place is very sketchy. I haven’t seen a replay of Denny (Hamlin) and us. I didn’t feel like I did anything crazy there any more than anyone has ever done to me. Just had to run ahead. I want to watch it. I didn’t feel like I did anything to hit him. I think it’s just the environment. But, if so, I apologize to him.
I could not be more proud of our team. Thanks to our partners at NAPA, Chevrolet. Everyone at Hendrick Motorsports. I had a great week last week. Great, thanks for sticking with me. Well, I’m proud of this. Thank you to all the people at home who have stuck by me and helped us get back on track.”

WILLIAM BYRON, NO. 24 LIBERTY UNIVERSITY CAMARO ZL1 Completed: 2 TELL US ABOUT THE SHOOTING OF THAT AND WHAT HAPPENED BEHIND IT WITH YOU AND CHASTAIN. “I had a great run. Me and Ross (Chastain) are running really well, and I didn’t want to let him down there, but he stopped me late, which is understandable. It’s a race at the end, but I was already there and unfortunately, we made enough contact that it hit him and it was .So, I hate what happened, but it’s the last episode and I just ran. I didn’t expect it, but I don’t want to do that to your Chevy guy, and we always compete well.
Happy for Chase (Elliott) and those guys. They did a great job; he hung very well and had a nice car. Our #24 Liberty University Chevy, we struggled all day and had to fight tooth and nail all day just to maintain our position. We had a few restarts going our way at the end.”

DANIEL SUAREZ, NO. 99 CAMARO ZL1 PICKUP Completed: 5 A LOT OF TIME THE BACK STARTS AGAIN AND YOU HAVE TO FIGHT YOUR WAY TO GET UP THERE. HOW WAS THIS RACE FOR YOU? “It was difficult. I thought we would be very strong, and we were good in the first half. Then in the first lap of the green flag, I don’t know what happened to the car because we were very loose. And then after that, we started making adjustments and we got a better car. We started to make progress and we got a penalty, and we went behind again. We started to make progress and had another bad pit stop. It was just a very clear day. It was a good result at the end of the day because the strategy worked well, and we got a good restart. But we have some work to do. We must continue to move forward.”

AUSTIN DILLON, NO. 3 BASS PRO CAMARO ZL1 SHOPS Completed: 8 “I’m happy for the Bass Pro Shops No. 3 Chevy team. That was a great finish for us, and I’m proud of the fight our guys showed. Coming home eighth is big because we had some issues with the handling of the car. We made some good calls to get a position. track, and we had a good restart at the end to get a good finish. Man, after this year, this feels like a win and hopefully we can build from this.

DANIEL HEMIC, NO. 31 SOUTH POINT HOTEL AND CASINO CAMARO ZL1 Completed: 17 “Thanks to Michael Gaughan, everyone at South Point, and all of our supporters at Kaulig Racing for sticking with us. It hasn’t been exciting the past few weeks, but at the end of the day we’ve been able to finish a couple of times this year better than we’ve run. That’s what we did here today. I’m proud Trent (Owens) for making the call to get two tires out there. I need to do a better job on the restart; we had a couple go our way at the end. I’m proud of the fight from this No. 31 team today.”

ALEX BOWMAN, NO. 48 ALLY CAMARO ZL1 Excludes damage sustained in an accident in Stage Two Completed: 37 Can you tell what happened? “Really what started it was what happened on pit road and getting buried back there. We should have been in the top 10. But yeah, we were chasing those guys really hard. I was in a really bad place to have someone crash and have to get on the brake pedal. No. 22 (Joey Logano) saw it before I did, just because of the way we were all stacked up. I had to step on the brake pedal a little harder than I wanted to, and it came off as soon as I did.
Of course it’s a bummer. We had the very fast No. 48 Ally Camaro there at the start of the first stage. We were going through the field very well. We just had that plan on pit road that set us back, and that happened.
Are you feeling okay? “Yes, it was very small, devastating. The way we were hit, there was no good way to fix it.”

AUSTIN HILL, NO. 33 CAMARO ZL1 RENTAL UNIT Excluded by a technical issue in Stage Two. Completed: 38 “Hatefully our race ended early today at Texas Motor Speedway. Our United Rentals Chevrolet was solid and tracked the position and clean air was very important. The strategy that Keith (Rodden, crew chief) called for had to be executed in our favor with a lot of caution that they were taken out as soon as we went to the garage. The No. 33 team tried to fix the mechanical issue, but unfortunately, there was something wrong with the car before our next race together. Driving the Cup car is very different and Xfinity car though, so I’d like to finish the race and see where we could end up. We’re proud of this Richard Childress Racing team and will be back soon. Appreciate the opportunity to run this race .”
