Stellantis continues its strategy of renewing its multi-brand portfolio as soon as possible with vehicles based on its conventional and multi-energy systems, to offer petrol and electric versions. The group’s family of city SUVs on the CMP/e-CMP platform welcomes a sixth element. Called the Alfa Romeo Milano and measuring 4.17 m in length, it marks the Italian manufacturer’s return to the B segment, as well as its first entry into the electric car market.

Be careful though, even though it’s a pure Stellantis product, the Milano keeps its plastics and sets itself apart from its cousins, such as the Peugeot 2008 and Fiat 600e. The relationship with the other city SUVs of the group is not particularly visible and it is clear that we find the stylistic numbers of Alfa Romeo, starting with its front face decorated with the famous Scudetto, this triangular grille is here divided into two proposals (Leggenda and Progresso).

The back is decorated with a light belt facing the steep part, which Alfa Romeo compares to trimmed tail of Giulia TZ. OséÂ!

The rear door handle is visually integrated into the C pillar.

A 10.25-inch panel sits in the center of the dashboard and we see the presence of real ventilation adjustment controls; good part of ergonomics.

Finally, it is possible to choose sports seats from Sabelt, unexpected in a city SUV.

Sabelt seats are offered as part of the Sport package.

A pleasant surprise, the trunk reaches 400 l of loading volume, which makes it one of the most welcoming in the category. In the electric version, you also get a small space under the front hood to store the charging cable, but nothing more. This drive, which its technical cousins do not have rights to, is nevertheless offered as an add-on. Small!

The most powerful version is 100% electric

Like its counterparts, the Milano offers its customers a choice between a petrol version and a 100% electric version called the Elettrica. The Milano Ibrida petrol inherits a new iteration of the 48 V 1.2 PureTech hybrid, here in 136 and 156 hp versions, which requires a two-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Note that the 4×4 Q4 version is also in the program with a power of 136 hp, without further details on its technical sheet.

The Milano Elettrica offers a 156 hp version and another 240 hp version. The latter, which is therefore the most powerful version in the range, gives it the sporty suffix Veloce. The Milano Elettrica is available in all modes with a useful battery of 51 kWh, for a range of up to 410 km in the 156 hp version. Direct current charging is promised up to a power of 100 kW, with a charging time of 10 to 80% of less than 30 min. In alternating current, the Milano Elettrica can go up to 11 kW with its optional three-phase charger.

To enhance Alfa Romeo’s identity, the brand’s engineers have modified the Milano’s chassis to give it a sportier character than its technical cousins. They even managed to make it lighter than all other models in its category, announces the manufacturer without giving any figures. The Milano promises precise and direct steering in its segment, as well as balanced front and rear anti-roll bars on the Veloce version, also lowered by 25 mm and fitted with a Torsen differential. This sporty electric version also benefits from larger brakes, with larger 380 mm discs at the front and four-piston monobloc calipers.

The launch edition of the Milano Speciale will be available at launch. Orders will open in France on April 25 with prices starting at €31,500 for the Ibrida version with a petrol engine or €40,500 for the Elettrica version with an electric engine.
