Ebro returns: With Chery – corporate, economic and industry news (other), electric (e-mobility) | News | VISION Mobility

Ebro is still known to some people, especially in the commercial vehicle sector: the brand was taken over by Nissan and produced light trucks up to 12 tons. Now Ebro should return – with the help of the Chinese: EV MOTORS and Chery Automobile will use their capabilities and exchange systems technology to revive the EBRO brand.

EV MOTORS is an automotive company specializing in the development, manufacture and sale of vehicles and production in Spain. Ebro was founded in 1954 and stopped selling cars in 1987 – from then on, small trucks were sold in modified form as Nissan, before Nissan also reduced its participation in Spain and closed the assembly in Barcelona.

In 2023, the Catalan government launched a project to “re-industrialize” the Ebro. It is looking to use the disused Ebro factory in Barcelona to build new car assembly lines and produce new Ebro-branded products. After several visits and detailed discussions, EV MOTORS and the Catalan government finally chose Chery Automobile, which has advanced technology and an innovative research and development system, as a partner. This partnership will not only contribute to the regeneration of the Ebro brand, but also support employment and the local economy.
