Live stream: Presentation of the Peugeot 9X8 Evo

(Motorsport-Total.com) – Peugeot has already won the 24 Hours of Le Mans three times, most recently in 2009 with the 908 HDi FAP with drivers David Brabham, Marc Gene and Alexander Wurz. In 2024, the work should be achieved for the fourth time in the best condition, and the French car manufacturer is launching a completely redesigned car with the 9X8 Evo. And we’ll be showing the launch of the 9X8 Evo as a video embedded further down this page in a live stream!

Peugeot 9X8 is history: We present the launch of the 9X8 Evo in a live stream!

Grow

With the Evo version, Peugeot finally wants to achieve the competitiveness that they had expected from the original 9X8 specifications. But the concept without a rear wing introduced in the WEC World Endurance Championship in 2022 could be interesting – in terms of sports, it did not go more than one podium place at Monza 2023.

“The idea was that it would be less of a racing car and more of a Peugeot,” said the chief designer Matthias Hossann in January 2022 before the launch of the car. “On the walls of the design studio where the Peugeot 9X8 was born, we had three key words: iconic, efficient, emotional.”

“I had anchored the word iconic in everyone’s minds because I wanted a car that was instantly recognizable and symbolized the achievement of a fundamental generational change,” Hossann said at the time. The final result then broke “with the characteristics of the previous generation of long-distance vehicles”.

Why Peugeot is based on a new concept

Also because the control system when the 9X8 was created was different than today. The car was originally designed with different passenger car controls than the one that went into service. The start signal for the project was issued in 2019; The first test carrier then went into production in the summer of 2021.

It was at that time that the regulations were changed to achieve a connection between LMH and LMDh vehicles. Among other things, a lower limit was set above which a hybrid car could be used in all-wheel drive vehicles such as Peugeot. Suddenly Peugeot is left with a car that does not conform to the rules.

In addition, there were reliability problems, especially in the initial phase of the Peugeot WEC project, which were slowly resolved in the 2023 season. And in the opening of the 2024 season in Qatar, Mikkel Jensen, Jean-Eric Vergne and Nico Müller were approaching to see the old version of 9X8 and second place before the car ran out of fuel shortly before the end.

Peugeot now presents the new 9X8 Evo, which departs from the previous concept and will come with a traditional rear wing. In addition to the rear wing, an important innovation is expected to be that the car will have changed tire dimensions that will better meet the requirements of the regulations changed in 2021.

With these tire specifications, the Peugeot 9X8 can also be used in the IMSA North American sports car championship. And for Dodge, the Stellantis Group (which owns the Peugeot brand) has a famous American brand that would commit to IMSA participation.

The WEC debut of the Peugeot 9X8 is scheduled for the Six Hours of Imola on April 21, 2024. Peugeot fans can enjoy the car’s launch live on Motorsport-Total.com on March 25. The live stream cannot be seen on any other platform in Germany outside the official Peugeot channels.
