Law enforcement officials in Christchurch are in pursuit of a group of criminals who allegedly broke into a local store and made off with a large quantity of candy and vaping paraphernalia.
The so-called “Ramraiders” are believed to have used a vehicle to smash through the front entrance of the store late on Sunday evening, before making off with a variety of items, including lollies and vaping products.
Following the incident, police officers have been conducting a manhunt for the perpetrators, who are believed to have fled the scene in a white van.
The incident has been met with shock and dismay from local residents, with many wondering how such a brazen act of theft could take place.
“It’s a real shame that this kind of thing is happening in our community,” said one resident. “It’s hard to believe that people would be so reckless and brazen.”
The store owner has also expressed his dismay at the incident, saying that he had no idea such a thing could happen in his store.
“It’s a real blow to our business,” he said. “We’re doing all we can to get the perpetrators and recover our losses.”
Local law enforcement authorities have launched an extensive investigation into the incident, and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
“We are working hard to identify and apprehend the suspects,” said one officer. “We urge anyone with information to contact us immediately.”
