Range Rover Velar, a masterpiece of design and technology

Jaguar Land Rover, now called JLR, continues to update its range.

After launching the new Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, the Indo-British manufacturer changes its Vélar design. It was he who launched the “pebble” line, known for its smooth surfaces and back, when it was launched in 2017.

Six years later, the Velar returns with a slightly changed silhouette. It gets more piercing lights by means of projectors and LED pixel lights with a three-dimensional effect. Its grille and bumpers have also been slightly redesigned.

In the cockpit, technology reigns. Facing the passengers is a large 11.4-inch touchscreen, slightly recessed and almost in the sky. The center console takes on a refined, Japanese style. Only the gear lever remains visible. Other functions are available on the steering wheel. The main computer now includes a modern Pivi Pro 2 information system, supported by Alexia, a talking voice assistant.

An army of cameras – 3D surround, ClearSight and Rear Vision – to help the driver. The cabin benefits from air as clean as that of the Alps, thanks to Cabin Air Purification Plus.

Under the hood, lovely vintage V8s are crouching. They have been notably replaced by the P400e, the first plug-in hybrid in the range. This variant, equipped with a 2.0 l 4-cylinder, coupled with an electric motor, can calculate 404 hp. It emits 49 g/km of CO2 and benefits from an all-electric range of 60 km. Behind the wheel, this luxury SUV is pleasant and maneuverable, despite weighing 2.3 tonnes.
