Acura returns to the New York Auto Show | Car news

With the Toronto Auto Show taking place this week, we’re getting word that an important brand will be returning to the New York Auto Show this year. Japanese manufacturer Acura confirmed the news earlier this week.

As you might have guessed, the company will show the North American media its first electric SUV, the ZDX. This product, remember, is the luxury version of the Honda Prelude that we tested a few days ago (details to come when the restrictions go up on February 22).

Built on General Motors’ Ultium platform, the ZDX looks promising. We could tell you how it drives, but that would be breaking the Prologue’s ban on driving shows. What we can expect, however, is a more refined experience, thanks to the logo that will adorn the car’s grille.

A distance of more than 500 km will also be one of the car’s strengths. In terms of power, we will be eligible for the best models from Acura, with the Prelude being offered with a single mechanical configuration that produces 288 horsepower. We will be eligible for 340 and 500 horsepower variants with the ZDX.

In terms of style, we notice a family resemblance in the model. The car will offer something different, which is attractive to consumers.

We’ll have the opportunity to revisit it at the New York Auto Show at the end of March.

For the rest, while auto shows have been on the wane in recent years, it’s encouraging to see brands making a comeback after a hiatus. We can only hope that the trend continues.

On the part of those particularly involved, there was no hiding the level of enthusiasm. In Acura:

“We’re excited to return to the New York Auto Show with our all-new ZDX electric vehicle. With its great design, performance and technology, along with our full lineup of precision-engineered sedans and SUVs we’re sure to excite the crowds at the show this March,” said Émile Korkor, Acura’s Vice President of Consumer Sales.

And to the organizers of the show:

“It’s great to see Acura return to the show,” said Mark Schienberg, president of the New York Auto Show. “The automotive industry is becoming more competitive and, as a result, it is increasingly important for companies to showcase their products at the New York Auto Show. »
