Cupra Born VZ, the first “electric GTI” from the Volkswagen group


Cupra was born to be a young, original and sporty brand, but Born, the first 100% electric model in the range, did not fulfill all its promises. Many professional testers criticize it for a certain lack of behavior on the road, and settings that do not provide much power. This can correct the situation, as Born VZ (the performance label launched by Formentor) claims about a significant power gain.

326 hp at the rear

The real jump is 95 hp, and now the engine sends 326 hp to the rear wheels. Even more impressive, the torque increases to 545 Nm, a gain of 235 Nm! Cupra thus declares 0-100 in 5.7 seconds. Most importantly, the chassis has been tweaked to provide more responsiveness and, hopefully, that extra spirit that was missing. The battery gets a limited capacity of up to 79 kWh, enough to reach 570 km in the WLTP cycle. Finally, the VZ version also has interior features, especially the new 12.9” screen launched by VW ID.3, half-bucket seats, and a 425 W Sennheiser Hi-Fi system will be delivered later, for markets after the summer of heat
