RESULTS: Max Verstappen fastest in second practice in Monaco

Max Verstappen set the fastest time during the second free practice session in Monaco on Friday. The field was very close. Behind the Red Bull driver, Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz were second and third fastest. Nick deVries concluded the session with P17.

In the opening round of the second session, the field was close together. Many drivers raced in the middle teams and four battled for the fastest times: Red Bull, Ferrari, Aston Martin and Mercedes. In the middle of practice, the teams changed the soft tire. Fernando Alonso was quickly on his way, but then saw Verstappen, Leclerc and Sainz pass. Despite the update, Mercedes showed little progress on the P6 and P12.

Fifteen minutes before the end of the session we saw a red flag. Sainz hit the inside guard at the post-pond chicane and landed on the wall.
