Rider splits with Delaware in mid-week doubleheader – The Rider News

The Rider Broncs and Delaware Blue Hens faced off in a mid-week doubleheader on Tuesday, May 18th at the RU Baseball Field. The Broncs split the series with a close win in the first game and a heartbreaking loss in the second.

The Broncs had a strong start in the first game of the series, as they scored in the top of the first inning. The Blue Hens responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the first and the game went back and forth from there. The Blue Hens took a 3-2 lead in the fourth inning, but the Broncs quickly tied it up in the fifth and took a 4-3 lead in the sixth. The Blue Hens put up a fight and tied it up in the seventh, but the Broncs rallied in the ninth inning to take the win.

The second game of the series was a much tougher battle for the Broncs. The Blue Hens scored two runs in the first inning, but the Broncs responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the first. The game remained close until the seventh inning when the Blue Hens scored three runs to take a 6-3 lead. The Broncs fought back and scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth, but it was not enough as the Blue Hens won the game 6-5.

The Broncs put up a valiant effort in the mid-week doubleheader against the Blue Hens, but the series split leaves the team with a record of 22-30 overall and 8-17 in the conference. The Broncs will look to improve their record as they take on the St. Joseph’s Hawks in a three-game series at the RU Baseball Field beginning on Friday, May 21st.

The Broncs have had a rough season thus far, but will look to turn things around in the final couple of weeks of the regular season. With their backs against the wall, the team will look to make a final push for a spot in the conference tournament. With the season winding down, every game is a must-win for the Broncs.
