A station wagon should be one thing above all: practical! Of course, the points of appearance and comfort should not be neglected either. And although SUVs have overtaken station wagons in recent years, the practical vehicle category is still popular in Germany. Whether as a taxi, as a child transporter or as a practical everyday companion – the station wagon is part of the street scene in Germany. However, this shooting brake is only for people with good health!
The Shooting Brake is a two-door model
And the Rolls-Royce Wraith, which has been converted into a bullet brake, also looks interesting. The conversion begins directly behind the A-pillar. The roof is made of carbon and runs flat towards the rear. Despite the bullet-busting silhouette, the Silver Specter remains two doors. The suicide doors that are standard on the back of the Wraith are kept. They open and close electrically at the push of a button, which is a spectacle in itself.
It is very interesting at the back, which has been completely changed. Instead of the Wraith’s traditional trunk lid, the Silver Specter’s lid opens along with the rear window, as befits a station wagon.
Behind it is a neat trunk that is covered in leather and aluminum and is therefore very good for crates of drinks or the weekly shopping.
The interior is as luxurious as Rolls-Royce customers have come to expect. A trinity of red, black and white leather meets the star roofline that tapers towards the rear. Like the Wraith, the Silver Specter has four full seats. What is new, however, is the open hatch in the trunk, which is of course covered in leather.
6,6-Liter-V12 with 632 PS
Otherwise, no changes were made to the engine. Why? After all, the Wraith has a massive 6.6-liter V12 that produces 632 hp and, from mid-2019, 600 horsepower to the rear wheels.
The special conversion was launched in 2018 and, according to the information in the auction description, it took almost 18 months and more than 2,500 hours of work. Cost: around 300,000 euros, including the base car, of course.
A limited run of seven Wraith-based Silver Specter Shooting Brakes was originally planned, but unfortunately this did not happen. Today, the example shown here is the only Silver Specter completed with just 17,965 kilometers on the clock.
That’s how high the estimated price is
The unique piece will be auctioned in Dubai. The estimated price is equal to 250,000 to 300,000 euros, which will only correspond to the repair costs. This can almost make an exclusive product a “bargain,” as used Wraiths are only available in exceptional condition for less than 200,000 euros.
And with this special station wagon you are sure to get envious looks. It doesn’t matter if it’s in front of a school, a soccer field or in a supermarket parking lot.
