Rolls-Royce is bringing back two of its iconic models RR-0.01 and RR-0.02

RR-0.01 and RR-0.02 are what we call “Gravity Racers”. This translates to “gravity driven racing cars.” In short: soap boxes. But not just any soap boxes. They are not built from reclaimed wood, like your local racing cars, but from aluminum, fiberglass, carbon… And they were created by real engineers from Rolls-Royce. It takes all this to get the Gravity Racer who, during his last race at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2023, was carried out at… 116 km/h!

Rolls-Royce students have restored two “historic” models of the brand– Rolls-Royce

The Goodwood era

As usual, these race cars were destroyed during the race. But the reason why the young students of Rolls-Royce were given the task of restoring these objects is their symbolic importance. These are actually the very first “cars” made by Rolls-Royce at the beginning of the Goodwood Era, in other words the era that began when the brand came into the hands of BMW. After going on display at the brand’s headquarters in Goodwood, the restored RR-0.01 and RR-0.02 will go on display at the Rolls-Royce Members Club in Northamptonshire.
