Royal Chevrolet of Repentigny started the season well.
The 2023 season started well for Royal Chevrolet de Repentigny and Diamants de Québec, as only 11 points were scored in the two games of the day at Stade Canac.
: The Diamonds won 5-2 against the Royal in the first game, while the Royal then gave their coin to the Diamonds with a 3-1 win in the second game.
Game 1 Highlights: Leading 3-2 after four innings, the Diamonds took a big hit in the fifth, when Enrico Roy hit a beautiful long ball for two runs, driving him and Olivier Bovet to the plate.
Individual performance from the first game: In his first career trip to the Brulotte circuit, Émile Bonneau (1-0) pitched two-thirds of an inning of relief without allowing a run, sealing the victory. Mathieu Hamelin (VP-1) pitched two innings of relief without allowing a run (two hits), and thus secured the victory for his team. He also drove in two runs on offense.
The loss, for Repentigny, goes to the record of Dominic Téoli (0-1), who completed his first outing by giving up five earned runs on six hits, in four and two-thirds innings of work.
Game 2 Recap: The Diamonds scored first in the third inning, but Repentigny then slowly came back. In the fourth, Giancarlo Paolucci hit a home run, followed in the fifth by Benjamin Sauvé, before seeing William Larivée score the final run on a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning.
Second game individual performance: Nathaniel Chamberland (1-0) gets the win by pitching two-thirds of an inning of relief for Royal. For Quebec, it is Mathieu Deschênes (0-1) who is charged on the backhand. (PC) (Source LBJÉQ)
