PARIS, Jan 16 (Reuters) – French carmaker PSA and Italian-American rival Fiat Chrysler have officially completed their merger, giving birth to Stellantis, the world’s fourth-largest new car group, the two companies announced on Saturday.

“The merger between Peugeot SA (PSA Group) and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (FCA), which should lead to the creation of Stellantis NV (Stellantis), became effective today,” PSA and FCA announced in a joint press release.

The action of the new Stellantis, which will be led by the current chairman of the board of PSA Carlos Tavares, will start on the Stock Exchange of Paris and Milan on Monday, then on the market of New York the next day. (Gwénaëlle Barzic with Gilles Guillaume and Giulio Piovaccari)
