WHAT SANCHEZ SAID

WHAT WILL CHERY DO IN SPAIN?

As stated, everything will be based on the agreement with Ev Motors of the Catalan Ebro group: the two companies will form a joint venture, most of which will be in Spanish hands. The new company, in addition to creating a high-tech center for research and development, will produce electric vehicles for the Omoda and Ebro brands. We are already starting this summer with several cars in two versions: EV and endothermic, when the machine will be replaced in the old Nissan factory (400 million Euros will be invested for this purpose).

ASSEMBLY KIT WILL BE CONTINUED DURING RECOVERY

These are 5 Omodas produced with Chinese-made connectors that will allow the repair work to continue, replacing the use of the line. Once fully operational, the plant will have the capacity to produce 150,000 vehicles per year in 2029, while the roadmap plans to start by reaching 50,000 units in 2027 of two Ebro brand SUVs on the Chery platform, an electric pick-up and a battery-powered van based on the Nissan Navara and e-NV200 respectively. In terms of employment, as said by Sanchez, the two companies have confirmed their commitment to employ 1,250 workers immediately employed by Nissan until the closure of the plant is decided in 2021.
