Sam Lowes: “Alex is my bad copy” / World Superbike Championship

After many years, identical twins Alex and Sam Lowes compete in the 2024 World Superbike Championship. The British show their rivalry with a wink.

A brotherly battle between Alex and Sam Lowes was eagerly awaited in the 2024 World Superbike Championship, but the battle rarely took place on the racetrack. The improved Alex was at the front with fourth in the World Championship, while Sam, who moved from Moto2, learned a lot as a delegate – only 18th in the World Championship.

However, the Marc VDS Ducati rider is a bit slow with his rim. “He’s like a copy of me, but as we know, a copy is not better than the original. Like a burned DVD that sounds,” joked Sam on the Pipedreams podcast. “But seriously, everything is fine with us. We are so close that it is good that we are competing right now. It was a long time ago – I think 2010 in BSB Supersport. I won, but it wasn’t a fair playing field. We are tough opponents for each other, but I always want him to do well.”

If you look at two Englishmen, you quickly realize: they have one heart and one soul. “Actually, we’re surprisingly similar. We do everything the same – we love racing, golf, our families,” admitted the Ducati rider. “We are one person, which is sometimes difficult for me because I have twins myself and I’m always reminded of that.”
