Sean Connery as Bond and the Aston Martin DB5 is one of the two most famous movie stars. Not everyone knows that the famous actor, in fact, also had a British coupe. This car went to a charity auction.
The possibility of buying a Bond car, in the real sense, does not happen very often. The model, which became famous for its role in “Goldfinger”, regardless of its true origin, is today a coveted piece by collectors. Not forgetting the play that was for the main actor, Sean Connery.
The actor became so attached to the DB5 on set that he wanted his own copy. He bought a well-preserved piece from 1964 through a famous aston specialist, and RS Williams.
Its representatives not only helped to select and buy a car, but also restored it to factory condition, including refinishing it with the factory color Snow Shadow Gray. This fits perfectly with the interior finished with red leather. There is also a large wooden steering wheel.
Although the car is already old, the 286 HP in-line six offers a very modern performance. The run to a hundred takes more than 7 seconds and the maximum speed is 229 km / h. It’s enough to feel the excitement. These will also accompany the driver due to the unique history of the car. Connery’s family admits that he had a true love for the DB5.
The car was put up for sale by an auction house Broad Arrow Auctions on behalf of the Connery family, who intend to donate a portion of the total to the Sean Connery Philanthropy Fund account. The final amount is estimated at EUR 1.3-1.7 million.
Anyone who decides to spend such money will be able to count on a celebratory trip in the company of three-time Formula 1 world champion Sir Jackie Stewart, who was a close friend of the actor.
